Gaara's New School

Chapter 8

Recap: Gaara snuggled down in his sleeping bag, closed his eyes and was asleep in minutes. Lee on the other hand was wide-awake, staring at the red head. Lee laid his head on his pillow and turned over. All he had to do now was get through the rest of the night with out jumping the love of his life.  


For the next three days Naruto took everyone all around the forest. He seemed to know his way around pretty well, considering the fact they never got lost. They had gone swimming by a spectacular waterfall and had, had fun testing which foods were roast-able over a fire.   
On that particular afternoon however, Naruto and Sasuke were nowhere to be found, so Lee had thought he spend should some time with Gaara.
"I don't see the point of learning how to climb a tree." Gaara said, staring up at the towering oak above him.
"It's fun. That's the point." Said Lee swinging up onto the thick branch above him. The red head looked up at him skeptically.
"And if I fall, what's going to happen?" Gaara said, crossing his arms.
"Tell you what." Lee said and jumped from the branch, landing with a quiet, thump beside the red head. "I'll catch you." Gaara blushes and nodded. Stepping towards the tree and grasped the nearest branch and attempted to pull himself up. After a few tries he succeeded in pulling himself up to the branch just above Lee's head. Looking down he tapped Lee's silky hair and grinned.
"I did it." He said grinning. Lee Looked up at the red head and laughed.
"Nice work Gaara-kun." He said. "Now try climbing down." Gaara bit his lip and nodded. Gripping the trunk of the tree Gaara slowly stood up and inched his foot forward. Just as he was about to climb to the branch below him his foot slipped on something and he tumbled forward, straight into Lee's open arms.
"Told you I'd catch you." Lee said with a smile. Gaara blushed; he felt very happy in Lee's arms and wanted the older boy to hold him more tightly. 'Stop that!' he thought, blushing a little.
"Uh, thanks Lee." Gaara said and smiled shyly.
"No problem." Lee said, and set Gaara down. Gaara suddenly felt something wet hit his face and he looked up. Gray clouds were covering the sky and it was just starting to rain. Lee looked up at the sky to.
"Just a bit of rain." Said the older boy. "We should be fine in the tents." Gaara nodded and they started to make their way back to the camping ground. They reached their tent just as the rain started to pour down and quickly rushed inside the cozy tent. Sitting down on his sleeping bag, Lee suddenly became very aware of the boy sitting next to him. He could feel Gaara's warmth coming off him and he had to fight the urge to kiss the red head right there and then. 'I am not supposed to feel this way.' He thought, feeling angry with himself.
"I'm going to take a nap okay Lee?" Gaara interrupted Lee's thoughts.
"Uh, what?" Lee looked at the red head, who was laying in his sleeping bag, facing the older boy. "Yeah me too." Lee climbed into his sleeping bag and turned to face Gaara, who, to his surprise the red head was shivering slightly.
"Are you cold Gaara-kun?" Lee asked and the boy nodded.
"I-I'm not used to the cold yet." He replied. Lee looked at him and a sudden thought occurred to him. Lifting the flap of his sleeping bag he looked at Gaara.
"Come on get in." He said smiling. Gaara just stared at him dubiously, his face heating.
"Hop in? With you?" Gaara said and Lee nodded. "Uh. Ok." He slowly crawled over and climbed in next to Lee. Lee reached over and zipped up the sleeping bag. 'YOSH!' he thought happily and rested his chin on Gaara's soft hair. Suddenly Lee couldn't resist the urge and reached down to grab Gaara's chin. Gaara looked up at Lee, green eyes to brown.
"Lee?" Gaara whispered but was cut short by Lee gently kissing the younger boy on the lips. Gaara's eyes widened and his heart start to beat faster as Lee continued to kiss him. His thoughts were all a jumble as he slid his hands up Lee chest and closed his eyes. Slowly they broke apart and Gaara rested his head on Lee's shoulder.
"Gaara, I," Lee gulped looking at the smaller boy. "I love you." Lee closed his eyes waiting for the red heads answer but none came. Gently pulling his chin up Lee saw that Gaara had fallen asleep before he had heard Lee say those words. Lee grinned a little to himself.
"I'll tell him in the morning." He whispered and lightly kissed the soft red hair.
